How Awake keeps your Mac awake, battery safety, and CLI commands.
Ask on GitHub IssuesClick the coffee cup icon in your menu bar. Choose a quick timer preset (15m, 30m, 1h, 2h, 4h) or Unlimited, then click the master switch. A pulsating amber/green dot indicates that your keep-awake assertion is active. Closing the popover keeps the session active in the background until it expires or you stop it.
Yes. Awake features native Clamshell Sleep Prevention using macOS IOKit power management assertions. When Closed-Lid Mode is enabled and Awake shows “Ready to close the lid”, you can safely close your MacBook lid while downloads, builds, or servers continue running in the background.
Presentation Mode is a one-click mode designed for meetings, webinars, and screen sharing. It keeps your display on, temporarily suppresses Do Not Disturb notifications, and cleans up desktop clutter so your presentation remains uninterrupted.
Awake includes automated Battery & Thermal Guards. You can require AC power or specify a battery percentage cutoff (e.g. 20%). If battery falls below that threshold or if your Mac detects high thermal pressure with the lid closed, Awake gracefully terminates the keep-awake assertion to protect your Mac.
Display sleep turns off your MacBook or external screen backlight while keeping the CPU, network, and background tasks alive. System sleep halts the CPU and pauses background work. Awake lets you choose whether you want to prevent just system sleep or display sleep as well.
Awake bundles a lightweight command-line tool `awake-cli`. You can run `awake start 2h`, `awake stop`, `awake toggle`, and `awake status`. Awake also supports URL schemes like `open "awake://start?duration=3600"` and `open "awake://settings"` for easy Shortcuts, Alfred, or Raycast integrations.
Yes. Awake is completely free and licensed under the permissive MIT open-source license. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases, license activations, or tracking SDKs. You can inspect the complete Swift source code on GitHub and build it yourself.
